T1 and 100 Thieves kept their VALORANT Champions Shanghai campaigns alive with 2-1 lower-bracket victories, eliminating Paper Rex and Nongshim RedForce respectively. Both winners now face another elimination match as the playoff field narrows.

T1 had to recover from a large deficit on the deciding map against Paper Rex. By contrast, 100 Thieves settled their series against Nongshim with a dominant final map after the teams split the first two.

T1 overturn Paper Rex lead on Summit

T1 opened their series with a 13-7 win on Lotus, but Paper Rex responded by taking Ascent 13-6. That sent the Pacific rivals to Summit, where Paper Rex built a 9-3 half-time lead and then won the second-half pistol round.

Despite that position, Paper Rex could not close out the match. T1 fought back to win Summit 13-11 and secure their place in the next lower-bracket round.

Initiator Ham “iZu” Woo-Joo was named series MVP. According to Sheep Esports, he was the only T1 player to finish Summit with a positive KDA; across the series, he recorded a 1.15 rating and 290 average combat score (ACS).

100 Thieves take control in decider

100 Thieves began their elimination match against Nongshim RedForce by winning Split 13-5. Nongshim levelled the series with a 13-9 victory on Sunset, leaving Ascent to decide which team would remain in the tournament.

The final map was emphatic. 100 Thieves conceded just one round on their way to a 13-1 win, ending Nongshim’s Champions Shanghai run. Sentinel Matthew “Cryocells” Panganiban earned series MVP honours with a 1.41 rating and 253 ACS.

The two results remove Paper Rex and Nongshim from the playoff field. T1 and 100 Thieves advance, but neither has room for another defeat in the lower bracket.

What comes next in Shanghai

The upper-bracket matches scheduled for October 10 were G2 Esports against Team Vitality and NRG against LOUD, with places in the upper-bracket final at stake. On October 11, 100 Thieves are set to play the loser of G2-Vitality, while T1 are due to meet the loser of NRG-LOUD.

The remaining matches will be streamed on the official VALORANT Champions Tour Twitch and YouTube channels. For T1 and 100 Thieves, reaching the tournament’s final stages means continuing to win elimination fixtures.
