Defending champions Orangutan have been eliminated from the BGMI Showdown (BMSD) 2026 after finishing ninth in the Last Chance stage on 13 October. Their 79 points from 12 matches left them outside the top four places required to reach the Grand Finals.

Myth Official, Welt Esports, Genesis Esports and Wyld Fangs claimed the final four Grand Finals slots. Orangutan’s exit also ends their hopes of reaching the upcoming BGMI International Cup (BMIC) 2026 and PUBG Mobile Global Championship (PMGC) 2026.

Orangutan fall short of qualification

Orangutan recorded 26 finish points and 53 placement points in Last Chance, along with one Winner Winner Chicken Dinner (WWCD). They finished 11 points behind the qualification cutoff of 90, reached by Wyld Fangs, Elite Nova Esports and Team Tamilas.

The result follows a difficult BMSD campaign for a team that competed at the Esports World Cup 2026. Orangutan had earned that place through their performances in the previous competitive season, but struggled to maintain their earlier consistency after returning from the event.

AKOP recorded more than 85 finishes during the tournament, while WizzGOD collected over 75. Those individual contributions were not enough to carry Orangutan into the Grand Finals, bringing their 2026 competitive season to an end.

Final match settles the Last Chance places

Genesis Esports secured a WWCD in the last match to finish third on 95 points and qualify. Myth Official led the final standings with 119 points, ahead of Welt Esports on 99.

Wyld Fangs took the fourth and final qualifying place with 90 points. Elite Nova Esports and Team Tamilas also finished on 90, but Wyld Fangs ranked above them through the tournament’s tiebreakers. In all, four of the 16 Last Chance teams advanced and the other 12 were eliminated.

Grand Finals offer route to international event

The BMSD 2026 Grand Finals will run from 16 to 18 October at Savaaya Convention in Hyderabad, with 16 teams competing. Four qualified through Qualifiers Group A, eight through the Semi Finals and four through Last Chance. The top six Grand Finals teams are set to qualify for BMIC 2026 in Mumbai, a route no longer available to Orangutan.

The first two days will use the regular points system. After Match 12, the Match Point threshold will be set at 10 points above the leading team’s total. Once a team reaches that threshold, it becomes Match Point Eligible. The first eligible team to secure a WWCD will become champion; if no eligible team wins a match during the final six games, the team with the highest overall points after Match 18 will take the title.
